British Pan Musicians make their presence felt in Trinidad's National Panorama competition

Have a look at the Pan Podium photo galleries in particular the Trinidad Panorama 2K8 competition and see how many British pan musicians you can identify who played in this national competition. This highly acclaimed competition has attracted these talented British pannists who have tested their musical abilities with the creme de la creme in the mecca for steelpan. Well done to all these musicians and I am hoping to see many more participate in this competition next year. The British are Coming!!!

Do you think this action is good for the British Pan? Let us hear your views. Pan4Life.

Re: British Pan Musicians make their presence felt in Trinidad's National Panorama competition

Come on Peeps ! I am positive that there are some of you who have comments so let's hear them. The British Steelpan Community have been steadily progressing from the arrival of TASPO in 1951, followed by  Dixieland in 1961, Gerald Forsyth's plight of getting steelband music as part of the national curriculum from 1975, Russ Henderson steelband being the first band at Notting Hill Carnival and also the first form of music at the Carnival. Champions of Steel Panorama competition from 1978 which has seen the involvement of some globally famous musical arrangers in the likes of Len Boogsie Sharpe, Rudy Two Lef Smith, Anise Haffers Hadeed, Ken Professor Philmore etc.

Recently the UK youth in pan have established their Pan Explosion, The Engine Room Collective concerts, Pan Clash etc. The wheels of progress for Brtish Pan continues to roll confidently towards  the future withits engine fulled by the enthusiam, skill and comittment of those involved. What are your comments?
