Caribbean Airlines Invaders Steel orchestra rocks Missouri

Invaders rocks Missouri

Caribbean Airlines Invaders recently participated in America's largest International festival, World Fest, at Silver Dollar City Branson, Missouri. Countries such as Ireland, Scotland, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Zambia, Australia, Ecuador, China, Russia, Bulgaria and Trinidad and Tobago came together to exhibit their culture, singers, acrobats, musicians and dancers. The festival ran from April 5-May 6 and Caribbean Airlines Invaders Steel Orchestra thrilled large audiences with Trinidad and Tobago’s unique national instrument, the steelpan.

Under the captaincy of Rudolph Williams, a specially selected repertoire was created which ranged from pop, reggae, samba-latin, slows, calypso and classical pieces.  “Tears run from the eyes of patrons emotionally touched by the Hallelujah Chorus which was our grand finale piece” stated Rudolph Williams “This piece was actually conducted by one of our members, Ronnie Ross. With baton in hand, Ronnie commanded the attention of all. There was a deep respect for this classical piece and for our showmanship.” The group’s choreographed performance always ended with a standing ovation and the crowds shouting for more.

Invaders' objective was not only to perform but also to promote Trinidad and Tobago as the home of steelpan and this was clearly defined by Desiree Myers spokesperson/Acting Manager of the 8-member group. “My main focus was, of course, to give a brief description of Trinidad & Tobago with our different cultures, treasures, population and festivals (mainly Carnival) and our resources.  All our fellow performers on the theme park were impressed and excited about our performances because we were deemed as the group with the happy, energetic and enjoyable music” stated an elated Myers.

Truly a cultural ambassador, Caribbean Airlines Invaders promoted the national instrument and sponsor to the large international audience by encouraging them to fly with Caribbean Airlines and to log onto www.pantrinbago.co.tt. Invaders continues its struggle to secure a “home” at its panyard located at 147 Tragarete Road, Woodbrook in Trinidad which has been sold.
