Wycombe Community Festival

SV2G co-ordinates the Wycombe Community Festival

The Wycombe Community Festival, co-ordinated by SV2G  will be on the Saturday 28th July 2007, at the Wellesbourne Campus Site, High Wycombe form 12pm - 7pm.

Main organisations supporting this event are BCUC, St.Vincent & Grenadines Tourist Office & High Commission, Thames Valley Police, Bucks Fire & Rescue service and Bucks Free Press.

A number of local community organisations will take part and many others will perform at the event. It is a community event, led by the community of which takes in the form of a diverse range of activities, food, music, and dance.  This
event in its second year, encouraging good citizenship to sustain a sense of belonging, pride and self-worth among community members by providing an awareness of many cultures and filling the gap of knowledge within their community. 

SV2G’s (St.Vincent & the Grenadines 2nd Generation - "providing an awareness of African & Caribbean Heritage & Culture") events have built foundations forging links within the community which have enabled the initiation of a festival for celebration of the rich heritage of the community as a whole.

There will be an African group of singers and dancers to spice things up along with Wycombe Steel Orchestra, Sri Lankan dancers, Salsa/Tango and Hip Hop dancers.  There will be all types of food including Caribbean, Polish and Indian cuisine. There will also be Cream teas, licensed bar, face painting children's craft making, bouncy castle etc.  Sports activities are currently being arranged in particular a football tournament for the day (young people 13yrs-19yrs). Funds collected on the day will be given to the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund.
