THE IDEA to form an all-Chinese steelband to commemorate the 200th Year of Chinese arrival in Trinidad and Tobago came in early 2006 during the Carnival season.

After a number of telephone calls in the recruitment drive, the band began taking shape and on Sunday March 26, 2006 at the Chinese Association, the Chinese Bicentennial Steel Ensemble was born with its official “panyard” on the association’s premises in St Anns
