Ayana shares stage with the masters

Nineteen-year-old Ayana Garcia, has been making music since she was three years old. Recently she got the unforgettable opportunity to share stage with the masters of the pan, namely Len “Boogsie” Sharpe and Ken “Professor” Philmore at the opening of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) South National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA).

Garcia said, “I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would reach this far in my career and so soon. I was blessed with the opportunity to perform alongside two masters of Pan, Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe and Ken ‘Professor’ Philmore at the official opening of the UTT Campus located at South Napa. I showcased Mazzi’s Digital Pan app and its capability to sound just as sweet as a real chrome pan.”

Garcia, daughter of Woodbrook councillor Cleveland Garcia and Alima, officially began her musical career while attending Bishop’s Anstey High School, attaining a Grade II at CXC level, after which she went on to the UTT Music Programme at the O’Meara Campus, and did a certificate course in music.  So good was her ability that she completed the course in just one year.  Garcia is currently pursuing a degree at UTT at the APA Campus based at NAPA, PoS, and is now finishing here third year of the four-year course.
