Pan on d’Avenue IV

The Woodbrook/St. James Community Association, is a non-profit Community Base Organization. Our group’s mission is to foster good relationships to build a Stronger Community. Our Association was registered in 2011 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Woodbrook. Back then a week of celebrations was planned however due to the State of Emergencies some of the events had to be either cancelled or postponed. One such event was Pan on d’Avenue.

In 2012 we staged the first Pan on d’Avenue. The first King of Carnival, Mr. Colin Edghill and the first Queen of Carnival, Ms Kay Christopher, were honoured. The Steel bands performing were limited to Woodbrook and St. James.

The following year, in 2013, Pan on d’Avenue II, saw the route being changed from West to East and included Steel Bands from the East, South central and Northern Regions. This parade was in tribute of Mr. Anthony Williams and in memory of Mr. Ralph Mac Donald.

In 2014 Pan on d’Avenue III teamed up with The Ministry of Health and included Zumba to the sweet sound of our Steelpan. A total of 16 Top Steel Band Arrangers were honoured. They each received an Award; A Hamper from Nestle and a Cheque. Some of the Arrangers got Executive Medicals courtesy Medical Associates.

This year, 2015, Pan on d’Avenue IV will be in tribute to The Black Stalin and in memory of Mr. Holly Thomas. Steel Pan Tuners and Steel Pan Manufacturers will be honoured. Apart from Pan on d’Avenue, our Association has other events such as Eid Celebrations; Divali Celebrations at the Harvard Triangle Remembering our Fallen Heroes and Loved Ones- A Candlelight Vigil on All Saints Day; A Christmas Concert and a Christmas Toy Drive- House to House Distribution of Toys and Snack Bags; All year distribution of Hampers to needy families; Movie Night and the list goes on… we are also responsible for the erection of signage with the History of Siegert Square; King George V Park and Anthony Williams Park. Our members all volunteer their services in order to uplift the community and to fulfill our quest to foster good relations.
