NeXt_LeVel + Poison UK Kicks off the 2013 Notting Hill Carnival Weekend with the Star-Studded Fire Friday Concert!

London On Friday August 23, 2013, Next Level & Poison UK Events will kick-off the Notting Hill Carnival weekend with their annual Fire Friday concert at the historic Coronet Theatre in Elephant & Castle. Media are invited to apply for credentials for Fire Friday here.

The concert will feature performances from VP Records’ newest signee Trinidadian Soca artiste Bunji Garlin, Barbadian Soca legend Lil Rick, up-and-coming Vincentian chanteuse Fya Empress, and Barbadian phenom Orlando Perez. The event will also feature the Fourth Annual Soca News UK Soca Monarch (UKSM) Competition showcasing Britain’s best and brightest homegrown Soca music talents!

Bunji Garlin, whose song 2013 “Differentology” was featured on the Guardian UK’s 2013 “Essential Songs for the Summer” list, remarked, “I am blessed to be able to continue to perform and bring the color and culture of Trinidad, of the Caribbean to the world! London is one of my favorite cities and Notting Hill Carnival is a great example of the richness of Caribbean culture and how it can blend with others to produce something unique and life-affirming.”

Sponsored by the UK Centre for Carnival Arts and others, the Soca News’ UK Soca Monarch (UKSM) competition is a means of providing opportunities for British Soca artists to develop their creative talent. The finals will feature two categories – Power Soca and Groovy Soca – with seven competitors each. The contenders, including last year’s Power Soca Monarch winner Triniboi Jooice and Groovy Soca Monarch winner Ms. Desire, will do battle to be crowned the UKSM champions for 2013.About NeXt_LeVel + PoisonUK
