Pouchet to be buried Friday

Edwin Pouchet, leader and arranger for PCS Nitrogen Silver Stars Steel Orchestra, who died on Saturday of a heart attack at West Shore Medical Complex in Cocorite, after ailing for some time, will be laid to rest at the Lapyrouse Cemetery on Friday, following his funeral service at the Assumption Church in Maraval. Pouchet 57, arranged Silver Stars’ two National Panorama victories, but was unable to arrange for the band this year. Instead the band had US-based musician Liam Teague arrange for them, while the other band for which Pouchet arranged, Katzenjammers of Tobago, looked to Len “Boogsie” Sharpe to take over arranging for the band last year, after Pouchet fell ill at their panyard in 2012.

Beverly Ramsey-Moore, manager of Katzenjammers said yesterday, “When we heard of the passing we were very sad. Edwin Pouchet was not only our arranger, but was also a mentor and counsellor to us. He made a significant difference in the lives of every single player, and the Black Rock community. We will forever miss him. We loved him and we know that he loved us too.”

Between 2007 and 2012, when Pouchet arranged for Katzenjammers, the band won three titles.  Boogsie too, lamented Pouchet’s passing stating, “Oh gosh girl it sad. He was my real friend and a good person. He was the only one that stood up with me when I had my fights with Pan Trinbago. Also, he was the one who recommended me to Katzenjammers. He was such a nice person. I feel we should do something for our heroes of which he was one. I loved Edwin. Personally we did real good. He will be well missed. We have to do something for him.”
