The Story of Steel Pan is an evening of live music and dance paying homage to the fascinating journey of the steel pan instrument from it’s birthplace in the 1930’s on the tiny Caribbean twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago.Award winning steel band Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra (RASPO) will track the historic journey with an eclectic repertoire of traditional, classical and contemporary music. RASPO is named in honour of TASPO – Trinidad All Steel Percussion Orchestra, who performed for the first time in the UK at the 1951 Festival of Britain,

The event features a special guest performance from street dance crew Swag Out Revolutionz with a surprise finale and you can have a go at playing the steel pans.  The Story of Steel Pan is a fun, informative and entertaining event ideal for all ages.
