The Afro-Brazilian percussion group will combine forces with RASPO to compete in the London Notting Hill Carnival National Steel Band Championship known as Panorama.
The orchestra will test out the complex ten minute piece with a fifty piece ensemble of musicians. The breathtaking arrangement follows months of rehearsals led by CultureMix’s musical arranging team.
This event offers a sneak preview of a magnificent sound check to hone the performance and ensure maximum effort at the championship two days later.
RASPO Panorama Previews take place in Reading to test out the sound and balance of the competition arrangement before competing in the Notting Hill Carnival National UK Steel Band Championship event known as Panorama.
The video above shows RASPO practicing Michael ‘Bubbles’ Oliviere’s arrangement of ‘Pan on Fire’ for the orchestra’s first appearance at Panorama with thirty-seven players. Below shows the Reading preview of ‘Calling Meh’ by New York based arranger Iman Pascall with forty-five musicians.
