UK National Steelband Panorama Champions of Steel Results 2015

On a wet summer’s evening  on the 29th August 2015 in London the UK steel bands bought some of the Caribbean feeling to everyone who attended the UK Steelband Panorama  Champions of Steel Finals. The crowds were treated to a wealth of steelband music on the night.

After practicing for hundreds of hours, thousands of instruments were played by hundreds of pan musicians to achieve the winner’s podium and bragging rights for being the UK Steelband Panorama Champions of Steel accolade.

Ebony Steel Band was crowned with the title after they delivered a scintillating Duvonne Stewart’s rendition of ‘Ah Feeling, Ah Feeling’. In second place were the previous reigning champions, Real Steel. Superb effort by Leroy Clarke and his talented musicians. Third place was Mangrove Steel Band delivering a Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe’s rendition of Oba’s ‘In My House’.  The Mangrove/Boogsie combination has not happened since 2004 and can only bring more victories as in the past. Watch this space!

In fourth place was Metronomes Steel Orchestra playing Anise ‘Halfers’ Hadeed’s musically arranged rendition of ‘Ah Feeling Ah Feeling’.  In fifth place was CSI Steel band who played a Brent Holder’s musically arranged rendition of ‘Ah Feeling, Ah Feeling’. Nice music! In sixth place was the newcomers to this competition, Endurance Steel band, they played Marlon Hibbert’s musically arranged rendition of Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe’s, ‘Happiness’. Great effort Endurance!  In seventh place was Croydon Steel Orchestra who played a David Ijadoula’s musical arrangements of  Machel Mantano’s, ‘Like h Boss’. This was David’s first time as a musical arranger in this event and from the looks of it both him and Marlon certainly have a bright future ahead.
