WeBeat Committee Says Thanks

The St. James Community Improvement Committee (CIC) extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who have made the recently- concluded WeBeat14 a reality.

The nine-day Festival was on the verge of cancellation when several Government Agencies such as The Office of the Prime Minister, Ministries of Tourism and The Arts & Multiculturalism, injected funds to assist in the staging of this year’s Festival

With just less than two (2) weeks, a minimal budget and ongoing challenges before the June 06th scheduled start, the revitalized Committee headed by its President Earl Crosby literally worked night and day to bring off the event

Three (3) activities were added to the diary of events ie WeCruise, ArtBeat and Steel & Jazz and the merging of the Steelband Parade with that of the City of Port of Spain’s on Sunday June 15th.

Crosby expressed his thanks to the committed sponsors, performers, suppliers, the media, committee members, well-wishers and all who attended any of our events, “you all played a vital role in keeping WeBeat alive.”

On an optimistic note, he revealed that with an early acquisition of funds and a heightened advertising campaign, WeBeat St. James Live can rival any festival that’s celebratory and that welcomes local and international communities.

He also took the opportunity to remind the public that WeBeat 2015 starts on June 5th to June 14th inclusive at the highly anticipated refurbished Amphitheatre

“Remember, you can nominate any person who was born or lives in St. James as an honoree for 2015, by logging on  to “www.webeat.org” or stjamescic@gmail.com

This year’s honorees were Mr. Freddie Kissoon HBM, ADB, and Miss Kleah Mannette.

To quote His Worship Alderman Raymond Tim Kee, Mayor of Port of Spain and Patron:” I am pleased to be associated with this group of citizens who continue to demonstrate their commitment to the development of art and culture among other things for the benefit, well-being and enjoyment of residents in the bustling community of St. James”
