Natalie Andrew – Passion, Patience, Energy and Community Spirit

Natalie Andrew first discovered the magic of steel pan at just 12 years old at Hornsey School for Girls, learning under the guidance of the renowned Chris Storey BEM. What began as a childhood hobby soon grew into a lifelong passion that continues to shape who she is today.

A primary school teacher and leader for over 15 years, including time teaching internationally in Dubai, Natalie brings the same patience, energy, and care to her classroom that she does to the panyard. She is proud to have been part of Pan Nation since its formation in 2009, making her the longest-standing female member of the band.

As leader of the Double Second section, Natalie is especially passionate about nurturing younger players, helping them grow in confidence while sharing in the joy of pan. Some of her favourite Pan Nation highlights include recording a new theme tune for Hey Duggee at the BBC Maida Vale Studios and performing at amazing events and venues such as Glastonbury, Opera Holland Park, and the Royal Albert Hall. She feels fortunate to have seen Pan Nation grow and flourish over the years and is excited to see what it achieves next, aiming to be part of its future and legacy.

For her, Pan Nation is more than a just band; it is a family built on music, mentorship, and community spirit.
